Israel's Greatest Blunder Ever
By Yuval Zaliouk   August 5, 2006

If the French/US UN Resolution is voted upon, and the call to stop the fighting is issued before Israel has dismantled Hezballah, only one conclusion can be reached: The Sharon and Olmert governments, by their actions and omissions, failed miserably to protect Israel.

All the appeasement policies of the left produced the greatest danger Israel ever faced, a danger more serious and acute than any since 1948.

Open your eyes and face the glaring realities: Hezbollah caused a huge blow to Israel's image and its deterrence, and the world continues to see the issue as eminating form the Israeli/Palestinian conflict rather than what it really is: The extension of extreme Islam/Iran's attack on the West.

From now on, the Arabs and Islam will not only hope, but know, that Israel can be defeated. This is precisely what Israel cannot afford.

As I wrote two weeks ago:

1) Israel should have mobilized three weeks ago and a full ground invasion initiated immediately.

2) Israel was slumbering for six years. As soon as it realized that UN Resolution 1559 was not implemented (disarming Hezballah), Israel should have pre-emptively initiated a full operation to do just that.

The Sharon and Olmert governments pre-occupied themselves with evicting Jews instead of dismantling Hezbollah.

This is the greatest blunder ever committed by Israel's leaders. It is the blunder, too, of all those who voted for Kadima.

And one more observation: Allowing any UN force on Israel's border will only work against Israel. Rockets will continue to fly and Israel will be prevented from marching in.
